All the elites in Igboland are busy making noise yet there is no embassy in the South East - Vleric, Odumeje

Nigerian clergyman Prophet Chukwuemeka Ohanaemere, popularly known as Odumeje, has strongly criticized political and business elites from the South-East, accusing them of doing nothing but “making noise” without bringing any meaningful development to the region.

Speaking during a recent service at his church, the cleric lamented the infrastructural marginalisation of the South-East. In a viral video circulating on social media, Odumeje pointed out that unlike the North and South-West, the South-East lacks international embassies, forcing residents to travel to Abuja or Lagos for visa appointments. He argued that the call for a united Nigeria can only be sustainable if the government ensures fairness, justice, and equity across all geopolitical zones.

Highlighting further disparities, Odumeje noted that the region cannot boast of functional seaports or key international agencies. He also called out the Federal Government over its plans to shut down the Onitsha Head Bridge for maintenance, questioning the timing of the repairs and alleging that the government only remembered the critical infrastructure because elections are around the corner.

“The Federal Government has come to play politics with Onitsha Head Bridge. That is why, now that the election is close, they have come to repair it. If you hear how much they budgeted for that, you will be shocked. Before you know it, it will take too long to reopen.

All the elites in Igboland are busy making noise. It’s so shameful that in 2026, there is no embassy in the South-East. Before anyone can get a visa, he or she must travel to Abuja or Lagos.

When we talk about one Nigeria, every major tribe should have at least one seaport and one international embassy. But in the South-East, there is nothing. Our elites keep deceiving themselves.” he said
