A man can start another family in two weeks. Men are not too emotionally attached - Marriage counsellor

Prominent Nigerian marriage counsellor Simon Asemota has ignited a heated online debate following his recent commentary on the institution of marriage and its emotional impact on men.

Featured as a guest on NTA, Asemota shared his perspective on why many modern marriages fail.

He argued that men are generally not emotionally invested in their marriages. According to him, because of this emotional detachment, there is a strong tendency for a man to quickly move on and start an entirely new family within just two weeks if his previous marriage collapses.

“There is a tendency for you to forget, especially as a man. A man can start another family in two weeks; even in less than two weeks he can start another family because he is not attached emotionally that much. So it’s just urges, and once he has the urge, he just goes.”

He further pointed out that many marriages have no long-term goal aside from just having children.
