Federal Civil Service Commission releases dates, centres for 2026 directorate promotion exam

Federal Civil Service Commission (FCSC) has released the dates and designated centres for the 2026 directorate level promotion examination for eligible civil servants across Nigeria and selected foreign locations.

According to a circular dated September 8, 2026, and signed by the Chairman of the Commission, Prof. Tunji Olaopa, the local leg of the examination will hold from Monday, September 21 to Wednesday, September 23, 2026.

The examination will take place across the six geopolitical zones and the Federal Capital Territory, with centres in Lafia, Nasarawa state; Kaduna, Kaduna state; Bauchi, Bauchi state; Port Harcourt, Rivers state; Ibadan, Oyo state; Enugu, Enugu state; and Abuja, FCT.

The Commission urged all accredited candidates to carefully check their examination cards for their specific dates and venues and report at their designated centres by 7:00 a.m. prompt.

It advised candidates to make adequate arrangements to arrive early and avoid any inconvenience, stressing that candidates would only be allowed to sit for the examination at the venue indicated on their examination ID cards.

For civil servants outside Nigeria, the foreign leg of the examination is scheduled for Saturday, October 10, 2026, with centres in Ottawa, Canada; London, United Kingdom; Beijing, China; and Cairo, Egypt.

The FCSC also directed Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), Permanent Secretaries, Accounting Officers and Chief Executive Officers to ensure that all affected Officers were informed of the examination arrangements for strict compliance.

The Commission said the measures were part of efforts to ensure a transparent, orderly and credible promotion examination process.
