2027 elections: Gbuku, Gbuchu, Kambre communities back APC in Nasarawa
The people of Gbuku, Gbuchu and Kambre communities in Akwanga local government area of Nasarawa state have resolved to align with the All Progressives Congress (APC) and support its candidates in the 2027 general elections.
The decision was taken at a town hall meeting held Sunday at the cultural playground of Gbuku Madaki, where the communities also reviewed their development needs and government interventions in the area.
The communities, previously associated with the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), said their decision followed consultations among their sons and daughters and was based on their collective interest.
Reading the resolutions, the convener of the meeting, Professor Sam E. Alu, said the communities would work collectively and peacefully for APC candidates across elective positions in 2027.
The meeting acknowledged the completion of the 17-kilometre Gbuku-Gbuchu-Kambre Road and other government interventions, while calling for further action on insecurity, unemployment, potable water, healthcare and education.
Alu said the communities would formally communicate their concerns to the state government and other stakeholders.
“We intend to communicate the concerns of the people of Gbuku, Gbuchu and Kambre, particularly the issue of insecurity,” he said.
He added that unemployment was also a major concern, noting that many graduates from the communities were without gainful employment.
On water, Alu said residents still depended largely on streams and other sources, urging the government to provide potable water.
The meeting also resolved to promote voter education, lawful political mobilisation and peaceful participation in the 2027 elections.
It called on community leaders, youth, women, professionals and traditional stakeholders to maintain unity and respect divergent political choices.
