2027: 103 million voters to decide Tinubu, Atiku, Peter Obi, others’ fate – INEC
The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has revealed that
103 million Nigerians registered to vote in the 2027 general election.
The commission said the development makes Nigeria the largest democracy in Africa.
The figure was disclosed by the INEC Chairman Prof Joash Amupitan on Tuesday during the commission’s World Press Conference in Abuja.
The conference was held as part of INEC’s preparations for the 2027 general elections.
Giving a breakdown of the figures, Amupitan said Lagos State has the highest number of registered voters.
According to the INEC, Lagos has 7,488,633 registered voters, followed by Kano State with 6,000,570.
Kaduna State ranks third with 4,000,640 registered voters, while Katsina State comes fourth with 3,876,051.
The commission also disclosed that at the end of the table are Ekiti State with the registered voters of 1,055,708. It is followed by Bayelsa State with 1,000,200, 691 registered voters.
The FCT ranks next from the bottom with 1,000,732, 43 voters, followed by Yobe State with 1,733,641, and Gombe with 1,768,566.
