UNILORIN staff association celebrates appointment of Vice -Chancellor, Bursar

The Ilorin Emirate Staff Association (IESA), University of Ilorin Chapter, has welcomed the appointments of two of its members, Prof. Biodun Alabi and Mr Muritala Ibrahim, as Vice-Chancellor and Bursar, respectively, of the Armed Forces College of Medicine & Health Sciences (AFCOM&HS).

In a congratulatory message signed by the chairman of IESA, Prof. Ibrahim Kayode Adam, the association described their appointments as well-deserved recognition of the competence, experience and sterling qualities of the two distinguished indigenes of Ilorin Emirate.

The chairman of IESA described Prof. Alabi as an accomplished academic and administrator whose wealth of experience in medical education and university administration has prepared him for the new responsibility.

Until his appointment Prof. Alabi, had served as Provost of the College of Health Sciences, University of Ilorin; chairman of the association of Provosts of Colleges of Medicine in Nigeria (APCOM), and Chairman of the Ministerial Monitoring Committee on the TETFund High Impact Intervention Project for Medical Schools Rehabilitation.

Prof. Adam also described the new Busar as a seasoned professional accountant with extensive experience in both the private and public sectors, whose professional career includes experience with Siemens, the German multinational company, as well as expertise spanning accounting, finance, auditing, project management and business management.

He noted that Mr Ibrahim had demonstrated the capacity to apply strategic, analytical, accounting and financial expertise to organisational challenges, while his experience in supporting executive management and boards in decision-making had strengthened his professional profile.

The association’s chairman urged both appointees, as distinguished members and illustrious sons of Ilorin Emirate, to remain worthy ambassadors of the emirate, the university of Ilorin and the values of Islam in their respective offices.

While praying for success for the two appointees and urged them to uphold the values of integrity, diligence, accountability and service in the discharge of their responsibilities, the association chairman also prayed Allah to grant them good health, wisdom and the strength required to excel in their new assignments, while seeking divine guidance and ease in all their affairs.
