The Adamawa State Police Command has confirmed a fatal crash that occurred on Friday along the Yola-Girei Road in Girei Local Government Area.
The spokesman for the command, SP Suleiman Nguroje, said a preliminary report indicated that the six people involved were rushed to a hospital, where they were confirmed dead.
“Police operatives from Girei Divisional Headquarters, Federal Housing and the Central Motor Traffic Division were immediately mobilised to the scene to evacuate the victims and restore normal flow of traffic,” Nguroje said.
The police spokesman did not provide details on how the accident occurred, but a picture he provided showed that it involved a tricycle.
Tricycles are commonly used as township taxis in the metropolitan Yola South, Yola North and Girei local government areas.
