Aisha, wife of Bello El-Rufai, the son of former Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, has stated that pressuring politicians’ children to go into politics is how the country “ends up with incompetent leaders.”

She stated this in an Instagram post on Thursday, September 17, 2026 while reacting to a video posted by Umar Yar’Adua, the nephew of Nigeria’s late former President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua.

Umar, a boxer, had fired back at a critic who questioned his career choice, saying he was wasting his time instead of following in his father’s political footsteps.

Umar’s father, Abdulaziz Musa Ya’Adua, is a senator and the younger brother of the late former President

Reacting to the video, Aisha wrote: “Never understood the need to pressure the children of politicians to follow the path of their parents. May be leave them alone?? It’s precisely one of the way you end of with incompetent leaders. Forced entry.”

Aisha is the daughter of the former Military Administrator for Plateau and Niger states, Colonel Habibu Shuaibu.

Bello is a House of Representatives member-elect representing Kaduna North.
