Obuoffia: Enugu NDC flag bearer Ohaa move to foot medical bills for victims

The governorship candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Sir Chinyeaka Ohaa, has visited the victims of the Obuoffia attack where many party faithful sustained gunshot injuries.
NDC faithful on Tuesday were having meeting in Obuoffia oblivious of a looming danger when thugs invaded the venue and disrupted the gathering, leaving many wounded.
Touched by the gory incident when he visited the victims, Ohaa said no political ambition was worth blood-letting.
He declared, “Today, I visited our brothers and sisters receiving treatment following the violent attack on our ward meeting at Ihuani Awkunanaw, Obuoffia, Nkanu West Local Government Area, on September 12, 2026.
“I did not go to the hospital simply as the governorship candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, I went as a brother, as a son of Nkanu, and as a fellow citizen of Enugu whose heart is deeply wounded by what happened.
“I looked into the eyes of people who went to a political meeting peacefully and returned with gunshot wounds, he lamented.
According to him, eight members sustained gunshot injuries during the attack and urged the State Police Command to investigate the incident properly.
The governorship candidate recounted how the incidents happened, saying there were reports of disruptions involving other political gatherings in Nkanu West on the same day, including the incident at St. Joseph Primary School, Agbani, which he said “made the situation even more disturbing and deserving of urgent attention from our security agencies and political leaders.”
“We must not allow Nkanuland, or Enugu state, to become a place where citizens are afraid to attend political meetings, express their opinions or participate in democracy,” he said.
“I have seen your wounds. I have heard your stories. I have seen the fear and pain in your eyes.
“On behalf of my family, I want to personally assure you that we will stand with you.
“We will take responsibility for your medical care and every necessary obligation connected to your treatment and recovery.”
