Police Trust Fund seeks to address gaps in tech, funding, others

The Police Trust Fund, Thursday, called for stronger and strategic partnerships to address persistent gaps in funding, technology and manpower, infrastructure and personal welfare.

The fund was set up and established as an intervention agency with the aim of supporting the training, welfare, equipment and infrastructure needs of the Nigerian Police Force.

The new call is against the backdrop of changing the nature of crime, which has reportedly placed increasing pressure on the Nigerians policing system.

Speaking at a stakeholders’ engagement with the theme: ‘strengthening partnerships for sustainable police development and national security’, the executive secretary of the Nigerian Police Trust fund, Mr. Mohammed F. Sheidu, stated the need for collective action to build a better equipped and more effective Police Force.

Describing the gathering as very important, Sheidu tasked the group of stakeholders whose institutions, expertise, and resources can contribute, while restating the need to contribute meaningfully to strengthening policing and national security in Nigeria.

He said: “The Nigerian Police Trust Fund was set up and established as an intervention agency to support the training, welfare, equipment and infrastructure needs of the Nigerian Police Force.”
