Police probe officers who allegedly extorted Lagos dispatch rider
The Lagos State Police Command has commenced an investigation into an alleged extortion involving a dispatch rider who claimed he paid N20,000 to police officers attached to the Makinde Divisional Headquarters.
Over the weekend, the dispatch rider released a video showing the moment he was stopped by the police officers conducting a stop-and-search exercise. He said the officers accused him of taking ‘’one-way’ while driving along Airport Road in Lagos. The officers were oblivious of the fact he was recording them with his hidden camera. There are reports that the police officers allegedly extorted N20, 000 from the rider. The viral video, however, did not capture this moment.
Reacting to the viral video, the command, in a statement released this morning, October 5, said it was aware of the viral video. The command identified the officers involved as personnel attached to the Makinde Divisional Headquarters.
