Oyo state government Tuesday raised alarm over what it described as unusual cases of kidnapping.
The Commissioner for Information, Prince Dotun Oyelade, raised the alarm in a statement made available to journalists in Ibadan.
Prince Oyelades said: “For the third time in 4 months, Oyo state is dealing with unusual cases of kidnapping.
“Are we being targeted? Are we under organised siege? Are these uncommon decoys to distract us?’ Is this a political attack targeting scholarship and conviction?
“On Friday, May 15, students and teachers from Oriire local government were abducted and they spent 56 days in captivity in harrowing circumstances.
“Having studied the surrounding debacle, Governor Seyi Makinde instituted a Judicial Panel of Inquiry led by Justice Mojeed on July 31 and the panel’s report was only submitted last week.
“Ever since the submission of the report, two serial kidnapping attacks have been foisted on Oyo state. And we ask: Is this a coincidence? If it is, it is one too many.”
