One d!es as four-storey building under construction collapses in Enugu
Tragedy struck in Enugu, the Enugu State capital today, Sunday, September 13, after a four-storey building under construction collapsed k!lling one person while five others were rescued.
The multi-million naira hotel collapsed with workers at the site trapped in the rubble. It was learnt that a building earlier built at the spot had collapsed, necessitating a new one which also has collapsed.
The construction workers were reportedly sleeping at the site when the structure came down at about 6 a.m. this morning. Four workers were rescued, while one body has been recovered.
NEMA, the Red Cross, SEMA, the Enugu State Capital Territory Development Authority and the Police were deployed to the scene of the incident.
The cause of the collapse is yet to be established, as concerns grow over building safety and regulatory enforcement.
