Oyo : Suspected bandits attack security base, set fire on patrol van

Suspected bandits on Sunday reportedly attacked a security post within a forest reserve along the Igbeti–Igboho axis in Oorelope Local Government Area (LGA) of Oyo state.

Blueprint.ng learnt that the security post was attacked by the gunmen in the early hours of Sunday between 5:30 a.m. and 6:00 a.m.

Security sources said the suspected bandits allegedly stormed the base in large numbers and opened fire on the security personnel at the base as well as shooting sporadically into the air

The gunmen were said to have allegedly set fire to a block within the security base and a patrol van, destroying both in the process.

It was also learnt that the bandits allegedly carted away properties such as generator and motorcycle at the security post.

Chairman of Olorunsogo local government area of Oyo state, Mr Kazeem Olayanju, when contacted confirmed the attack, saying no casualty was recorded during the incident.

According to the Chairman, “The information is true. But there is no casualty. They burnt the security post we constructed for them. They also set ablaze an abandoned vehicle there. They also carted away their generator and motorcycle. It occurred today around 5am and 6am.”
