2027: Presidential candidate urges youth, women to take charge of political future

Presidential candidate of the Action Alliance (AA), Oluwadare Joseph Faduri, popularly known as Fadojoe, has called on Nigerian youths and women to take more active roles in shaping the country’s political future, urging them to reject what he described as a political system driven by money and self-interest.

Faduri, a medical professional who lived in the United States for about 15 years, made the call while addressing members of his political movement on arrival in Nigeria.

He said he decided to venture into politics in 2022 after becoming increasingly concerned about the hardship, unemployment, insecurity and economic frustration confronting Nigerians.

Presenting his proposed agenda, Faduri said that, if elected, his administration would restore fuel subsidy as part of measures to reduce the price of petrol, while making electricity generation and distribution a major priority.

On the economy, he proposed the promotion of locally manufactured vehicles, arguing that greater patronage of Nigerian-made cars would stimulate local industries and create millions of jobs.

Faduri also criticised what he described as the political practice of using women and youths to win or manipulate elections and subsequently pushing them aside in governance.

According to him, “This country needs a younger generation like us to run it. We have the exposure needed and we have empathy, having suffered in the early years, growing up as an orphan. If you have not suffered before, you will not understand what it is to suffer.”

He added: “The fact remains that some of these people have never suffered in their life. For the past 30 years, they have been enjoying the best of Nigeria.”

He also advocated free and compulsory education, improved welfare for teachers, better public healthcare and increased investment in electricity generation, stressing that solving Nigeria’s power problem should be a major national priority.

“Light is fixable. What we need is light, it’s not coastal road. When we fix light, we cut Nigeria’s problems halfway,” he said.

On his political party, Faduri called on INEC Chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan, to “do the needful” by obeying the court order he referenced concerning the leadership of the Action Alliance and recognising Barrister Kenneth Udeze as the authentic chairman of the party, as well as recognising his candidacy.

He said this should be done “except INEC Chairman is indirectly working to stop this election from holding.”

Faduri described the 2027 presidential contest as a struggle between the present political establishment and a new generation seeking to take over the leadership of the country.

“This election is about me and other politicians. And it’s time for them to pass the baton. I am the youngest of all of them. These are people who have been running Nigeria for over three decades now. They are former Governors, former Senators, former this and former that.

What they have done is not good enough. Hence, I have decided to present myself for the rescue mission of our dear country,” he said.
