The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) have moved to strengthen their collaboration on the security and safety of Nigerian pilgrims during Hajj operations.

The move followed a courtesy visit by the NSCDC Commandant General, CG Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, to the NAHCON Chairman/CEO, Ambassador Ismail Abba Yusuf, at Hajj House, Abuja.

In a statement issued in Abuja Wednesday and signed by Shafii Sani Mohammed, Head, Information and Publications Division of NAHCON, the Commission said, “discussions during the visit focused on security, crowd movement management, pilgrim safety and effective inter-agency coordination during Hajj operations.”

Audi commended NAHCON’s leadership and the ongoing reforms aimed at repositioning the Nigerian Hajj industry.

He assured the Commission of the NSCDC’s continued support and cooperation in ensuring the safety of pilgrims and the smooth conduct of Hajj operations.

Responding, Ambassador Yusuf thanked the Commandant General for the visit and reaffirmed NAHCON’s commitment to sustaining and strengthening its partnership with the NSCDC.

He said continued cooperation between the two agencies was essential to safeguarding Nigerian pilgrims and ensuring the success and smooth conduct of future Hajj operations.
