Man accused of slaught£ring family of four during st@bbing spree

A Louisiana man has been charged with slaughtering a family of four during his st@bbing spree that left a 6-year-old fighting for his life.

Kaegan Jude Solet, 47, was arrested for the deadly rampage in Houma, La., Saturday evening, after he was released from the hospital Tuesday, the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office said.

Solet, 47, is accused of k!lling Verna Mae Verdin, her children Letha Verret and Paul Verret, and Paul’s partner Krissy Lynn Parfait at a home on the 200 block of Ashland Drive, 63 miles outside of New Orleans in the heart of bayou country, relative Brandon Thiel said on a GoFundMe.

The suspected killer was known to the victims, as he fathered one of their children, Thiel told WVUE.

Terrebonne police captured Solet around 10:30 a.m. Sunday following an hours-long manhunt, transporting him to a hospital for medical care.

Solet was released on Tuesday and promptly arrested on four counts of first-degree murder and one count of attempted first-degree murd£r, the sheriff’s office said.

Verdin, a great-grandmother who was two weeks away from retiring from her job in the Walmart bakery, lived in the main home with her daughter Letha while Paul and Parfait stayed in a camper in the backyard, WVUE reported.

A 6-year-old boy, who had been staying the night with his grandmother, Letha, and great-grandmother, was attacked by the knife-wielding maniac and sustained multiple st@b wounds.’

The child heroically sought help from neighbors despite his injuries.

“He knew he was injured, and he was just worried about making sure someone knew his family was in trouble,” Thiel told the outlet.

Police found the young boy near the home before uncovering the gruesome scene where the four adult victims were pronounced de@d.

The boy, who is being hailed a “superhero,” was airlifted to a hospital in critical condition, where he remains as of Wednesday.

“Please pray for my little man as he recovers he’s so so strong and such a fighter. Current status (he’s stable) thank everybody for reaching out,” the boy’s father wrote in a Facebook update.

Letha leaves behind seven children of her own – four adults and 3 minors.

“This devastating tragedy has left the Verret family facing an unimaginable amount of grief, uncertainty, and hardship,” Thiel wrote on the fundraiser. “The loss is especially profound for Letha’s minor children, who are now having to cope with the sudden loss of their mother, grandmother, and uncle all at once.”

Solet was booked into the Terrebonne Parish Criminal Justice Complex, where he is being held without bond.

The quadruple murder suspect had faced arrests in two previous stabbings in Houma, including another k!lling.

He was first charged in January 2019 for the stabbing de@th of homeless man Kemple Paul Scott Lovell, who was found dead with several stab wounds in Houma.

A grand jury declined to indict him because of a lack of evidence.

Solet was arrested months later in December 2019 and charged with attempted murd£r after a woman was found lying in a pool of blood in a motel room.

Cindy Boudreaux, 59, was found inside a room of the motel gasping, “don’t let me die,” as paramedics tended to her, the Houma Courier reported.

She accused Solet of attacking her with a wine bottle before st@bbing her numerous times.
