The Kebbi state government has acknowledged the invaluable contribution of hunters to the security of lives and property of the citizenry.
Consequently, it has co-opted them into its security architecture, to complement the operations of conventional forces.
Addressing a large gathering of hunters in Birnin Kebbi, weekend, Governor Nasir Idris, described the hunters’ association as a formidable and united front.
“We shall not toy with the services of hunters to societal peace and security. The government has recognized your importance to both the security and political stability of the state and the nation.
“We shall do whatever is necessary to make the association forge ahead. The government solicits for your votes for the APC from top to bottom in the 2027 elections. The large gathering of hunters today is a sign of absolute confidence on my administration.
“I’m the happiest person, I will continue to use public resources to service the people and uplift their standard of living.
“I urge you to remain law-abiding, loyal and supportive to leaders, in all ramifications,” Governor Idris said.
He donated N100 million to the Hunters’ Association for the welfare and operations of its members.
