Workers in Kaduna state-owned tertiary institutions have called on Governor Uba Sani to honour his outstanding commitment to implement the remaining 30 per cent of the CONPCASS/CONTEDISS salary structure and other allowances.
The Joint Unions of Tertiary Institutions of Kaduna State (JUTIKS) made the demand on Wednesday after a meeting of representatives from four state-owned institutions at the Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic, Zaria.
Chairman of JUTKS, Usman Suleiman, said the unions appreciated the governor’s implementation of 70 per cent CONPCASS/CONTEDISS structure in October 2025 but expressed concern that the promised balance had not been paid.
Suleiman said the state government had earlier committed to implementing the outstanding 30 per cent by the first quarter of 2026, but the deadline passed without fulfilment.
The institutions at the meeting included Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic, Zaria; Kaduna State College of Education, Gidan Waya; Kaduna State College of Nursing Sciences, Kaduna; and Shehu Idris College of Health Sciences, Makarfi.
Beyond the salary structure, the unions demanded that the state government extend the earlier 25 per cent and 35 per cent Federal Government wage allowances to eligible workers in the state-owned institutions.
JUTIKS also called for an official establishment circular giving non-teaching staff the option of retiring at 65 years or after 40 years of service.
