Kaduna police deny invading TV, Radio stations, arrest

The Kaduna state Police Command has denied reports that its personnel invaded JKD TV/Hamada Radio Network in Millennium City, Kaduna, and arrested the station’s General Manager, Mr Charles Abah, and a security guard.

The command, in a statement issued on Sunday by its Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Mansir Hassan, described the reports as “false and misleading,” saying they were intended to create public pressure and divert attention from an ongoing investigation.

According to the police, Abah was not arrested but invited in connection with a complaint relating to a matter under investigation.

The command said the General Manager honoured the invitation and was subsequently allowed to leave, while the security guard was also not detained.

It expressed concern that the media platform published the report without seeking clarification from the police, adding that a follow-up publication 48 hours later repeated the claim that the individuals were still in detention.

The command described the development as a failure of basic verification, particularly from an organisation whose reports could influence public perception of law enforcement.

It said the matter remained under investigation and warned that appropriate legal action would be taken if culpability was established.

The police urged members of the public to disregard the publication and rely on verified information from the command, stressing that it remained committed to protecting lives and property, the rule of law and professional policing.
