The governorship ambition of Dr. Jamilu Isyaku Gwamna of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Gombe State in the 2027 election has received a major boost following the endorsement of former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Treasurer, Hon. Ahmed Yayari.
Yayari, who recently defected from the PDP, pledged to work “assiduously” for Gwamna’s emergence as the next governor of Gombe State in the 2027 election.
He made the pledge in Gombe while receiving APC stalwarts from Tumfure, Wuro Bobbo, Wuro Bawa, NTA and other parts of Akko Local Government Area.
The delegation described Yayari as a political asset, citing his experience as former Director-General of ex-Governor Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo’s campaign organisation.
They expressed confidence that his defection and support for Gwamna would strengthen APC’s chances in 2027.
The delegation added that their areas comprise 24 polling units whose votes could boost the party’s fortunes.
In his response, Yayari said: “I am ready to work assiduously for the victory of Jamilu Gwamna as the next governor of Gombe State because he is a great leader and a lover of Gombe people.
“We have seen what he has done for the people of the state especially the youth in the previous opportunities and positions he held. I therefore think though I don’t have a party at the moment, but he is the right candidate I will support and work for his victory”, he stated.
