Flood k!lls UNIZIK primary school pupil in Awka

A pupil of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK) Primary School, Awka, Anambra State, Success Ezenwafor, has d!ed after floodwaters swept away the school shuttle bus at the ring road area of the town on Monday, September 21.

Ezenwafor was among schoolchildren inside the bus when floodwaters overtook it along the Awka-Nibo-Nise-Enugwu-Ukwu Ring Road in Awka South Local Government Area.

His body was recovered on Tuesday, September 22, during a search operation following the incident and was laid to rest on Wednesday, Seotember 23, in his hometown in Ekwulobia, Aguata local government area of Anambra state.

Uche Nworah, former Managing Director of the Anambra Broadcasting Service (ABS), who confirmed this development online, said little Ezenwafor’s parents reported him missing on Tuesday shortly after the heavy rainfall and flooding in the area.

Two other children from the Ezenwafor family were also reportedly in the vehicle but were rescued.

In an update shared on Facebook, Nworah disclosed that the little boy’s remains has been recovered and laid to rest in his hometown.
