The chairman of the 10-man independent committee to investigate deaths of 37 persons in NSCDC custody in Minna, set up by the federal government, Mr. Jonathan Kure, has assured that the outcome of the investigation will bring succour and justice.
Kure, who is also a retired Deputy Director General of the Department of State Services (DSS), stated this when he led other members of the committee on a visit to Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago at the government house in Minna.
He said the committee was in Minna to carry out the task given to them by the president.
He said the medical team of the committee has already commenced work immediately after the inauguration of the committee so as not to miss some elements required for the investigation.
“I want to assure you that we will display the independent status that has been bestowed on us by making sure that justice is done. We will do our best to unravel what went wrong. And we will apportion blame where blame needs to go”.
He assured that the committee will be fair to anybody who has been brought into this that has nothing to do with it,
In his response, Governor Bago expressed confidence that the committee will unravel the circumstances that led to the death of the 37 people.
“The world is watching, and the committee consists of people of integrity across relevant sectors; I believe they will do justice,” he said.
