Etsu Nupe insists on indivisible Nigeria

The Etsu Nupe, HRH Dr Yahaya Abubakar, has urged Nigerians to remain committed to national unity and development, urging Nigerians to take responsibility for building a stronger and more prosperous nation.

The Etsu Nupe stressed that Nigeria’s challenges should not diminish the nation’s enormous human and intellectual potential.

Represented by represented by the Andoma of Doma, Ahmadu Aliyu Oga Onawo, at the 8th Blueprint Annual Public Lecture, Impact Series and Awards held on Tuesday, August 18, 2026 in Abuja, the Etsu Nupe stressed, “there is no alternative to indivisible Nigeria.”

He stated that the country’s current security and socioeconomic challenges should not overshadow its massive human and intellectual potential.

The Andoma of Doma commended Blueprint Newspapers for its contribution to national discourse and called on Nigerians to remain committed to the unity and development of the country.

Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar, who is also Chairman of the Niger State Council of Traditional Rulers, emphasised “the need to restore the old value system — discipline, respect for constituted authority, and communal responsibility — as a strategic approach to tackling insecurity across the Nupe Kingdom and Nigeria.”

He also stressed community policing and grassroots participation, noting that “traditional institutions are critical partners in intelligence gathering, conflict resolution, and peaceful coexistence.”

He highlighted the structural role of district, village, and ward heads in maintaining order, resolving disputes, and fostering unity, while reaffirming the commitment of the traditional institution to supporting initiatives that promote peace, social cohesion and sustainable development.

He urged Nigerians to uphold virtues of hard work, honesty, respect for authority and communal harmony, and called for prayers for lasting peace and unity.
