Kano Fire Service rescues man who jumped into well to save cow

The Kano State Fire Service has rescued the life of a villager in Sabon Ruwa Village, Makoda Local Government Area, who jumped into a deep old well to save his cow which earlier fell into the well.

This was made known to newsmen in Kano on Thursday by the Public Relations Officer (PRO), Saminu Yusif Abdullahi, who warned the public to desist from such risky adventure and refer to the fire service.

“The Kano State Fire Service wishes to inform the general public that on Wednesday, 26 August 2026, at about 3:22 pm., the Emergency Response Unit of the Danbatta fire station received a distress call concerning an incident at Sabon Ruwa Village, Makoda Local Government Area.

“The distress call was made by Ibrahim Jibrin, who came to the Danbatta Fire Station to report the incident.

“Our men immediately rushed to the scene, where they discovered that a five-year-old cow had fallen into an old well.

“The owner of the cow, Badamasi Ibrahim, about 40 years old, attempted to enter the well to rescue the cow. However, he also became trapped inside the well and was unable to get out.

“Our personnel successfully rescued both the cow and Badamasi Ibrahim alive, despite the man’s difficulty in breathing while trapped inside the well,” the PRO stated.

He further explained that the Director of the agency, Alhaji Sani Anas, has appealed to members of the public to refrain from entering or diving into wells under any circumstances, as doing so could result in serious injury or loss of life.

He urged the public to immediately contact the fire service when such an incident occurs.
