The governor of Enugu state, Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, has approved the appointment administrators and members of the local government development centres.

According to the announcement on Wednesday by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Prof. Chidiebere Onyia, the appointments were part of the Governor Mbah-led administration’s continued efforts to strengthen grassroots participation in governance and decision-making.

Onyia also stated that the appointments would promote inclusivity and broad-based representation, ensure that communities had effective channels for contributing to government programmes and policies, and further deepen the reach of government at the local level.

He also said, “the appointments also intend to enhance effective coordination of grassroots development initiatives, facilitate greater community engagement and responsiveness, and ensure that the administration’s development agenda is implemented with meaningful participation from the people at the community level.”

The SSG noted that “all appointees are expected to bring to bear their experience, commitment and understanding of their respective communities in the discharge of their responsibilities.”

The SSG also said they would work collaboratively with the relevant government institutions and stakeholders to advance the development objectives of the state.

Our correspondent gathered that the appointments were a strategy to help Governor Mbah secure his second election bid.
