Emir of Kano partners Afrinvest, commissions digital library
The Emir of Kano Muhammadu Sanusi II has commissioned a digital library in partnership with Afrinvest at his palace from where access could be given to major academic libraries across the world.
The library will also access the Emir’s library which has over 300,000 books that have all been digitalised and with some of the books being over half a century old.
The Emir, while delivering an address at the ceremony on Thursday stated that apart from students sitting for WAEC, NECO and JAMB, University students and researchers can also have access to the library facility.
“The digital library books will be available on the internet but cannot be downloaded because they are important materials to be preserved,” the Emir stated.
The Emir, who also served as the guest of honour at the Ethical Wealth Solutions Launch and Stakeholders session of the Afrinvest, appreciated their coming to Kano to add value to investment.
He called on Kano residents to take advantage of the investment facilities provided by Afrinvest which are also compliant with the Islamic law.
In his response to newsmen, the Group Managing Director (GMD) of Afrinvest, Ike Chioke, explained that Afrinvest put in place a 35-seater ICT centre to bring digital education and infrastructure right in the heart of the palace.
“It will allow young Nigerians to be able to access all opportunities of educational learning digitally as available anywhere by putting the facility in place powered by a 15KW solar system and internet connection,” he stated.
Furthermore, he explained that Afrinvest has put in place Shari’a compliant investment products among its verse market of financial products and services for the Islamic faithfuls clients.
This, he explained, will make them not to loose the opportunity of participating in the global stock markets.
