Desmond Elliot goes on his knees to apologise to Femi Gbajabiamila (video)

Nollywood actor and former lawmaker, Desmond Elliot, has publicly apologized to his political mentor and Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, following months of political friction that fractured their long-standing relationship. In a video circulating widely on social media,

Elliot is seen on his knees, pleading for forgiveness and seeking reintegration into the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) fold in Lagos State.

The rift between the veteran actor and the former Speaker of the House of Representatives traces back to earlier political developments surrounding the representation of the Surulere Constituency I seat in the Lagos State House of Assembly. Reports indicate that Gbajabiamila and the Lagos APC leadership had withdrawn support for Elliot’s fourth-term ambition, opting instead to back Barakat Odunuga-Bakare. Despite explicit directives to step down from the race, Elliot rejected the decision and insisted on defending his seat.

The standoff grew during the APC primary elections. Elliot ultimately withdrew from the exercise, alleging intense political pressure and the intimidation of his supporters. He later hinted at a potential run under an alternative political platform, a move that severely strained his ties with the party hierarchy and his political benefactor.

Apologising via his Instagram page, Desmond wrote;

“I, Hon. Desmond Olusola Elliott, wish to sincerely express my heartfelt appreciation to my political father, mentor, and leader, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, for his unwavering guidance, support, and investment in my political journey over the years.

My respect and loyalty to Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila remain unwavering.

Everything I have achieved politically is all for Surulerians .Thanks for the love and always believing in me.

It is therefore important for me to publicly state that no political ambition or temporary disagreement is worth damaging a relationship built on years of trust, guidance, and shared commitment to the progress of our party and our people.

I appeal for understanding and unity as we continue to work together for the growth of the All Progressives CongressAPC), the development of Surulere, and the advancement of Lagos State and Nigeria.

I remain committed to the ideals of loyalty, service, and respect for party leadership.”
