A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Zamfara state, Dr. Sani Abdullahi Shinkafi, has advised Governor Dauda Lawal to appease members of the Zamfara state House of Assembly who defected and ensure their entitlements are paid.
Shinkafi, who is also the executive director of Patriots for the Advancement of Peace and Social Development, gave the advice while commenting on the current political realignment in the state.
He said the lawmakers who left the APC should not be abandoned, but should be pacified and their rights and entitlements settled in order to maintain political stability and unity in the state.
Shinkafi further warned Governor Lawal to be vigilant and watchful of political actors who may be planning to sabotage him ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He drew a parallel with what happened to former Governor Bello Matawalle, alleging that similar forces that worked against Matawalle are now plotting against the current administration.
The APC chieftain noted that Zamfara politics has always been characterised by internal wrangling and betrayal.
He urged Governor Lawal not to be complacent despite the current wave of defections into the APC.
