The All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced the reopening of its electronic membership registration exercise nationwide from August 31, 2026, ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The party said the exercise would be conducted across all wards in the country, with existing members expected to validate their membership details while new and intending members would be given the opportunity to register.

The announcement was contained in a statement issued in Abuja on Tuesday by the APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka.

APC urges members to participate

Morka called on party stakeholders, supporters and members, including existing and prospective members, to participate actively in the exercise.

He said the registration was part of efforts to strengthen the party’s membership database and improve its internal administrative processes ahead of the 2027 elections.

The APC said the electronic registration exercise would help the party maintain an updated and reliable register of its members across the country.

Exercise targets digital membership records

According to Morka, the exercise is designed to digitise the APC membership register, improve the integrity of membership records and provide efficient access to membership information.

He said the initiative would also support planning and management decisions while promoting internal democracy within the party.

“The E-Registration Exercise is designed to digitise the Party’s membership register, ensure the integrity of membership records, enhance efficient access to membership data for planning and management decisions, promote internal democracy, and strengthen the Party’s commitment to democratic innovation in Nigeria,” Morka said.

Requirements for registration

The APC said prospective registrants must be at least 18 years old to participate in the membership registration exercise.

Applicants are also required to possess a valid National Identification Number (NIN).

The party encouraged eligible Nigerians interested in joining the APC, as well as existing members whose details require validation, to take advantage of the exercise when it reopens on August 31.

The exercise comes as political parties across Nigeria intensify preparations for the 2027 general elections, with membership mobilisation and database updates expected to form an important part of their organisational activities.
