The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Tuesday mourned the tragic loss of lives in the Nigerian Air Force aircraft crash that took place in Ondo State.

In a signed statement made available to newsmen in Abuja by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Hon Jungudo Haruna Mohammed, the party also extends its deepest condolences to the families of the victims, their colleagues and loved ones.

The party called on the federal government and relevant authorities to conduct a thorough, transparent, and independent investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash and make the findings public.

The investigation, according to the PDP, should identify any systemic, technical, or operational issues that may have contributed to the tragedy

The statement reads: “This is a painful moment for the nation, particularly for the families who have been confronted with the sudden and devastating loss of their loved ones.

“The PDP also commiserates with the Nigerian Air Force and the entire Armed Forces of Nigeria over this tragic incident.

“The PDP calls on the Federal Government and relevant authorities to conduct a thorough, transparent and independent investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash and make the findings public. The investigation should identify any systemic, technical, or operational issues that may have contributed to the tragedy, with appropriate measures taken to prevent a recurrence.

“Our men and women in uniform make enormous sacrifices in the service of our nation. Their safety and welfare must, therefore, remain a matter of the highest national priority.

“The PDP stands in solidarity with the bereaved families at this difficult time and prays that God grants them the strength and fortitude to bear this irreparable loss,”
