âNone of them can try itâ â Davido challenges Nigerian politicians after Peter Obi explains source of wealth
Afrobeats star Davido has challenged Nigerian politicians to publicly account for how they acquired their wealth after former Anambra State governor Peter Obi explained his business background.
The singer reacted after journalist Rufai Oseni shared a clip from an interview in which Obi discussed his businesses and financial history before entering politics.
“Can every Nigerian politician tell us how they made their money like this?” Rufai asked.
Davido responded: “None of them can try it,” appearing to suggest that other politicians would not be willing to offer a similar explanation.
In the interview, Obi said he had built a successful business career before becoming a politician, including working with international brands and holding interests in banks.
He also addressed questions surrounding his wealth and offshore assets linked to the Pandora Papers, insisting that his wealth predated his political career.
Obi said entering politics had made him poorer financially, although he maintained that he did not regret serving in public office.
