2027: ‘Not from us’ – Abia PDP denies constituting Governorship Campaign Committee

The Abia State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, says it has not constituted its 2027 Governorship Election Campaign Council as reported in a section of the media.

The State PDP Caretaker Committee Chairman, Ikpegbu Emeka-Yellow, made the rebuttal in a statement on Saturday.

The party urged the public to disregard any misleading report claiming that the party has inaugurated its governorship campaign council in the state.

It added that the PDP governorship candidate in Abia, as duly submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, in compliance with the provisions of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended), the Electoral Act, 2026, and the constitution of the party, remains Dr. Anthony Iheanyichukwu Ibeabuchi.

“The party will in due course announce its Governorship Campaign Council which will coordinate the activities and campaigns of the PDP in the state,” the statement said.
