2027: Lamido Leads Jigawa PDP’s 45-Member Campaign Council

The Peoples Democratic Party has unveiled a 45-member campaign council to drive its mobilisation and electioneering activities across Jigawa State ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

The party’s governorship candidate, Mustapha Lamido, will chair the council, which is expected to coordinate the PDP’s campaign across the state’s 27 local government areas.

Lamido announced the composition of the council in a statement issued in Dutse, the state capital, on Friday night.

“I am pleased to announce the composition of the Jigawa State PDP 2027 Campaign Council to lead our mobilisation and engagement across the 27 local government areas,” he said.

Inuwa Tahir was named deputy chairman, while Senator Mustapha Khabeeb will serve as Vice Chairman I for Jigawa Central.

Ambassador Ibrahim Kazaure was appointed Vice Chairman II for the North-West, with Yusuf Dunari serving as Vice Chairman III for the North-East.

The council brings together former and serving public officials, lawmakers, party leaders and other stakeholders, including former Inspector-General of Police, Suleiman Abba; Dr Nuraddeen Mohammed; former deputy governorship candidate, Babandi Gumel; Dr Aminu Taura; and Professor Mustapha Jarumi.

Other members include Isah Zakari Bosuwa, Idris Alhaji Garba Kareka, Ali Idris Diginsa and Nasir Umar Roni.

Lamido said members of the party’s State Working Committee and grassroots mobilisers were also incorporated into the council to strengthen the PDP’s presence across the state.

A separate campaign directorate was also constituted to oversee the day-to-day operations of the campaign.

Shehu Liman Wan was named Director-General, while Nasir Mohammed was appointed secretary.

Nuraddeen Muhammad will head Strategy and Mobilisation, while Abba will oversee Security.

Aminu Abubakar was appointed Director of Finance, with Umar Kyari taking charge of Media and Publicity.

Umar Birniwa will head Planning, Research, Organisation and Documentation, while Fahad Hashim will coordinate Youth and Support Groups.

Murja Garki was appointed Director of Women Mobilisation.

Lamido expressed confidence that the campaign team had the experience and reach required to mobilise voters and secure victory for the PDP in the 2027 election.

The former governor of Jigawa State’s son was affirmed as the PDP governorship candidate in May after emerging as the sole aspirant for the party’s ticket.
