2027: ‘I have no fear’ – Wike names three candidates to win elections in FCT

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, has named three candidates capable of winning elections in the nation’s capital in the 2027 general elections.

The former Rivers State governor stated that he has no fears about President Bola Tinubu and other contenders, including Senator Philip Tanimu Aduda and John Gabaya, winning the FCT elections.

Wike encouraged residents to vote for candidates who have demonstrated dedication to advancing their interests.

The Minister stated this in Abuja on Thursday while addressing journalists following an on-site inspection of ongoing infrastructure projects across satellite communities in the FCT.

He noted that the Apo-Karshi road contract was initially granted in 2010 but experienced delays under the previous administration, leading the current administration to rescind and reassign it. He indicated that the contractor had committed to completing the road by November this year.

He acknowledged the Federal Government’s efforts in extending development initiatives beyond the central business district to satellite communities, observing that more than ten projects would be inaugurated in the FCT before the next elections, surpassing an earlier commitment of merely ten projects.

Addressing inquiries concerning the political landscape for the FCT in preparation for the 2027 general elections, Wike expressed confidence in the governing party’s performance prospects, referencing the administration’s infrastructure accomplishments as evidence of effective governance.

He stated that he had no concern whatsoever that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other aspirants, including Senator Philip Tanimu Aduda, would prevail in the FCT elections, encouraging residents to vote for candidates who have exhibited commitment to enhancing their welfare.

According to the Minister, “If really indeed that good governance is a barometer to measure whether a government has succeeded or not, then we have nothing to fear. If we are saying that we want to have a government that listens to us, we want to have a government that cares for us, we want to have a government that solves our problems…Now the Tinubu administration has come, it’s not only listening to you, it’s not only caring for you, it’s solving your problems.

“So why would the people again who have said this is what they want, now change their mind to say, oh, let’s go and try people that we do not know what will happen? Nobody does that.

“I can beat my chest; I can close my eyes and go home and sleep with my two eyes closed that Bola Ahmed Tinubu will emerge and other candidates such as Philip Aduda and John Gabaya will win this election. I have no fear at all,” Wike further stated.
