The Lagos state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has unveiled its campaign council for the 2027 general elections, with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, former governors Babatunde Fashola and Akinwunmi Ambode, and other prominent party figures named in the leadership structure.

The list, released on Thursday by the Kadri Obafemi Hamzat Media Centre, outlines the various advisory, campaign and operational structures established by the party ahead of the elections.

Sanwo-Olu, Fashola, Ambode take advisory roles

Prince Tajudeen Olusi is listed as Chairman of the Governance Advisory Council, while Governor Sanwo-Olu is named Chairman of the Advisory Council.

Former Lagos governors Fashola and Ambode are designated as co-chairmen of the advisory structure. Their inclusion brings together serving and former leaders of the state in the party’s preparations for the 2027 elections.

Other prominent members listed in the advisory structure include President Bola Tinubu’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila; Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa; and former Minister of Health, Adeleke Mamora.

The structure also names Ojelabi Cornelius as Vice Chairman I, Obasa as Vice Chairman II and Damilola Sonayon James as Vice Chairman III.

At the main campaign council level, Sanwo-Olu will serve as chairman, while his deputy, Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, has been designated Deputy Chairman.

Former Senator Musiliu Obanikoro is named Director-General of the campaign council, with Rasaq Ajala appointed Deputy Director-General and Adekunle Olayinka serving as Campaign Secretary.

Multiple directorates to oversee election activities

The campaign structure is divided into several directorates and committees assigned to different areas of the party’s electioneering activities.

The listed areas include legal and compliance, party and inter-party affairs, administration and logistics, traditional institutions, diaspora engagement and residents’ associations.

The arrangement is designed to provide separate responsibilities for various aspects of the party’s preparations and campaign operations as the 2027 general elections approach.

The unveiling of the structure comes as the Lagos APC steps up its preparations for the elections and begins to formalise the machinery expected to coordinate its activities across the state.

Kadri Obafemi Hamzat has already emerged as the party’s governorship candidate, with Damilola Sonayon-James named as his running mate.

The campaign council is expected to provide the organisational framework for the party’s mobilisation and electioneering activities ahead of the governorship and other elections scheduled for 2027.

The formal inauguration of the campaign council is scheduled for Friday, September 18, 2026, at the APC Secretariat on ACME Road, Ikeja, Lagos.
