2027 elections: INEC lists 213 candidates for 36 Edo legislative seats

A total of 213 candidates have been listed to participate in elections for 36 legislative seats in Edo state ahead of the 2027 general elections, according to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The list released by the electoral commission showed that 142 candidates are seeking election to the 24 seats in the Edo state House of Assembly, while 49 candidates are listed for the nine House of Representatives seats.

Another 22 candidates are listed for the three Senatorial seats representing Edo North, Edo Central and Edo South.

For the state House of Assembly, the All Progressives Congress (APC), National Democratic Congress (NDC), African Democratic Congress (ADC) and Social Democratic Party (SDP) have candidates across the 24 constituencies.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has candidates in 13 State House of Assembly constituencies, four House of Representatives constituencies and two senatorial districts.

Other parties with candidates for the State House of Assembly include the African Action Congress (AAC), Labour Party (LP), Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Young Progressive Party (YPP), Action Democratic Party (ADP), National Rescue Movement (NRM) and Action Peoples Party (APP).

Candidates for the House of Representatives have also been listed by the ADP, APC, NDC, SDP and ADC, as well as the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP), Democratic Leadership Alliance (DLA), Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) and YPP.

For the Senate, the APC, NDC, ADC and ADP have candidates for all three senatorial districts.

Accord, SDP, AAC, ZLP, YPP, PDP, LP and DLA are also participating in the senatorial elections, although they are not fielding candidates in all three districts.
