2027 election: APM replaces Nasarawa governorship candidate

The Allied Peoples Movement, (APM) in Nasarawa state has substituted its state chairman Engr. Mohammed Auwal and adopted Senator Mohammed Ogoshi Onawo as its governorship candidate for the 2027 election.

The affirmation was done during a special congress of the party in Lafia, on Saturday.

The party said the substitution was in pursuant to the provisions of the Electoral Act to replace nominated candidates who withdrew from the race.

Onawo currently representing Nasarawa South Senatorial district in the Senate contested African Democratic Congress (ADC) governorship primary and lost to Major General Nuhu Angbazo rtd leading to his defection to APM.

During the affirmation process, a motion was moved by a member of the party, Ahmed Dogara, and seconded by another member Shehu Giza, and subsequently through voice vote by the party members.

Speaking after the affirmation, the Nasarawa APM governorship candidate Onawo expressed excitement and commended the former candidate for finding him worthy to relinquish his mandate, and pledged to bring new development to the state.

Earlier, the state APM state chairman Engr. Auwal, explained that his decision to resign from the contest was for the interest and development of the state.
