When I Got To U.S I Started Doing Catering, It Was Not Easy With No Help And No Assistant -Adewale

Veteran Nollywood actress and producer Toyin Adewale, popularly known as Mimi and mother of music superstar Mayorkun, has revealed that after relocating to the United States, she took up catering and fabric selling to survive, even doing all the cooking alone without any assistant until her health began to suffer.

On Talk to B.H., she said she had experience in catering from her years running a kitchen in Nigeria, but doing it alone in America with no help was far more demanding. She pivoted to fabric trading after a few months and also pursued a regular nine-to-five job to cover her expenses.

In Mimi’s words: “When I got there I started doing catering. I was making money but it was not easy — no help, nothing, no assistant. It was just you. I did it all by myself for a couple of months. It was affecting me health-wise. I said, you know what, change it. Before you know it, I started fabric business. I was buying fabric, doing all of that. At the same time I was looking for nine to five because in America, expenses and all of that…....
