We’re not getting welfare packages, Zamfara APC youth leader tells Lawal
The youth leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Zamfara state, Abdullahi Sani Danazumi, weekend told Governor Dauda Lawal that youths in the state are facing hard times.
Danazumi spoke during the APC stakeholders meeting held at the Government House, Gusau, where he listed the major challenges confronting young people in the state.
He said the youths are facing a lack of welfare, lack of support from government, worsening insecurity, and no condolence visits during attacks.
He also pointed out failure of political appointees to assist the people, and the suspension of workers since the inception of the administration.
“No welfare, no favour, support and security. No sympathy visit (after attacks by bandits) and (Political) appointees are not helping the people while Workers were suspended since you became governor. It is enough sir,” he said.
Responding to the complaints raised at the meeting, Governor Lawal said his administration had spent the last three years focusing on governance, adding that now is the time for politics.
“For three years, we have focused on governance. Now it is time to return to politics, because its time has come,” the governor said.
Governor Lawal dismissed claims that people have not benefited from his government, challenging any commissioner who feels he has not benefited to resign.
“There are some who complain that they have not gotten anything. That is not true. Even among the commissioners, anyone who feels he is not getting anything should resign,” he said.
He admitted that the government made a mistake by not publicizing those awarded contracts, promising to publish the names soon.
The governor noted that stakeholders like Zannah, Mai Palace, Hon. Aminu Jaji and Hon. Bello Hassan have carried out various empowerment programmes for the people and youths of the state.
He appealed for patience and called for an end to factional politics in the APC
