VIDEO: UN Delegates Walk Out as Netanyahu Defends Iran Attack

Dozens of United Nations delegates walked out of the General Assembly hall on Thursday as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu began his address at the 81st session of the UN General Assembly in New York.

As Netanyahu approached the podium, a mix of cheers, boos and mass walkouts erupted. Scores of envoys from various countries left their seats, leaving many empty.

General Assembly President Khalilur Rahman repeatedly called for order in the hall.Netanyahu responded by denouncing those who left as “moral cowards.”  “If there are any other moral cowards who have not yet left the hall, please do so now,” he said.

In his speech, the Israeli leader defended his country’s military actions, including strikes on Iran. He described the decision to attack Iran as “one of the easiest decisions I’ve ever had to make.”

“In defending itself, Israel is also defending many of the countries whose delegates just left this hall,” Netanyahu stated.

“In fact, I want you to know that many of their leaders even thank us privately for taking out Iran’s nukes.”

He also rejected accusations of genocide in Gaza, calling them “the biggest lie of the century,” and criticised several Western countries and other critics.

The walkout followed a call by the Palestinian Mission to the UN for delegations to leave the chamber during Netanyahu’s speech. Protests against the Israeli leader also took place outside the UN headquarters.
