Video captures moment bulldozer nearly crushes woman and baby during Nnewi demolition

A video showing a bulldozer nearly crushing a woman and her baby during a demolition at the Building Materials Market in Nnewi, Anambra State, has sparked heavy outrage online. The incident happened on Wednesday, September 2, during a government cleanup of illegal structures.

The footage shows an excavator from the Anambra State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development tearing down illegal shanties. In a terrifying moment, the machine destroys a building just feet away from a woman and child who are desperately trying to grab their things and escape at the last second.

The video has split public opinion online. Many people slammed the officials for risking lives by operating heavy machinery while people were still inside, arguing they should have checked the building first. Others blamed the mother, saying she likely ignored advance eviction notices and put her baby in extreme danger.
