Troops launch search operation as suspected gunmen abduct man in Plateau
Troops of Sector 3, Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP), have launched a search and rescue operation following the abduction of a man in Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The victim, identified as Mr Ndubisi Onuigbo, was reportedly abducted at Angwan Kaji Village on Monday night, August 24, 2026.
The incident was contained in a post shared on X on Wednesday by security analyst, Zagazola Makama.
According to Makama, the victim was ambushed by unidentified gunmen at about 8:21 p.m. while approaching the entrance to his residence.
He said troops responded after receiving a distress call and moved to the area, where they confirmed that the man had been kidnapped.
“The troops, working with personnel from other security agencies, immediately began searching the surrounding area to locate the victim and identify those behind the abduction,” Makama wrote.
However, the initial search did not establish contact with the kidnappers.
Makama said security forces have continued their efforts to trace the abductors and rescue the victim.
He added that surveillance and intelligence-gathering activities were also ongoing in the area as the search operation continues.
