IGP lauds Tinubu, First Lady for RHI support to 1,638  fallen officers’ families

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji  Disu, has applauded President Bola Tinubu and First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, for financial support to the families of fallen heroes of the Armed Forces and the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) through the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) Social Investment Programme organised by the Office of the First Lady of Nigeria.

A press statement by the Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), CSP Anietie Iniedu, Thursday in Abuja, disclosed that

1,638 families of deceased police officers received financial empowerment packages designed to help rebuild their livelihoods and cater to their dependents during the event held at Banquet Hall, Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The FPRO noted that, “IGP Olatunji Disu today, August 27,  2026, attended the presentation of financial support to the families of fallen heroes of the Armed Forces and the Nigeria Police Force.  through the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) Social Investment Programme, the event took place at the Banquet Hall, Presidential Villa, Abuja.

“This second edition of the initiative targeted families of security personnel who lost their lives in the line of duty since the inception of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration. In total, 1,638 families of deceased police officers received financial empowerment packages designed to help rebuild their livelihoods and cater to their dependents.

“The ceremony was attended by key dignitaries, including the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu; Wife of the Vice President, Hajia Nana Shettima; Wife of the Senate President, Mrs. Ekaette Unoma Akpabio; along with Service Chiefs and the President of POWA alongside wives of heads of security agencies.”

He said while delivering the vote of thanks on behalf of the NPF and the Armed Forces, IGP Disu expressed deep gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the First Lady for the intervention, describing it as a profound demonstration of national gratitude and compassion.
