Troops arrest terrorist kingpin, ammunition courier, logistics supplier in Kaduna

Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have arrested a suspected terrorist kingpin and two members of his syndicate, while also apprehending an ammunition courier and a suspected terrorist logistics supplier in separate operations across Kaduna State.

The military said troops of Sector 1 conducted a clearance operation at Dabar Dabo, a known terrorist hideout in Kubau Local Government Area, in the early hours of September 9. The operation led to the arrest of the suspected kingpin and two other members of his syndicate, who are now in military custody for further investigation.

In another operation on the same day, troops acting on intelligence intercepted a 50-year-old woman allegedly transporting ammunition in Igabi Local Government Area. The suspect was reportedly found with 300 rounds of ammunition concealed in a bag. Preliminary investigation by the military indicated that she had travelled from Zamfara to Lafia to collect the ammunition for onward delivery to terrorists in Birnin Gwari.

Later that day, troops working with a community vigilante group also arrested a suspected terrorist logistics supplier in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area. Four communication devices allegedly used by terrorists were recovered from the suspect during interrogation and a search.

The Joint Task Force said the operations were part of efforts to disrupt terrorist networks and prevent the movement of arms, ammunition and other logistics within the North-West. It urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to security agencies.
