Suspected Fulani militias attack four residents with machete in Plateau community
Troops of Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP) have rescued four residents who sustained machete injuries after suspected Fulani militias attacked locals in Gonifal Village, Ganawuri District, Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The incident occurred at about 9:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 17, 2026, when troops of Sector 6, OPEP, responded to a report of an attack on residents in the community.
According to security analyst Zagazola Makama, the troops’ swift intervention reportedly forced the attackers to flee the area.
The troops subsequently exploited the location and rescued four residents found inside a house with machete wounds.
The victims were identified as Bagu Mabuly, Ngyuk Bagu, Musa Bagu and Chen Bagu.
The injured residents were evacuated to Ganawuri Maternity Clinic, where they received first aid treatment.
Meanwhile, troops have commenced a manhunt for the fleeing attackers as security forces continue efforts to track them down and prevent further attacks in the area.
