2027 elections: Ex-Obidient leader denounces movement, announces new strategy

Former leader and pioneer organiser of the Obidient Movement, Marcel Ngogbehei, has announced that he is no longer the leader of the Obidient Movement.

Ngogbehei in a statement issued on Saturday in Abuja said his current role was within the Labour Party, where he heads the Directorate of Mobilisation and Integration.

He said they were mapping out mobilisation strategy as political activities gather momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Ngogbehei, said the movement plans political landscape and the party’s mobilisation plane.

Ngogbehei said he was recognised by the organisers as one of the early organisers of the political movement that emerged around Peter Obi ahead of the 2023 presidential election.

He said he was the pioneer founder of the Peter Obi Support Network (POSN), served as chairman of the first one-million-man march organised in support of Obi and was later elected unopposed as the pioneer chairman of the Coalition for Peter Obi (CPO).

He explained that during his tenure with the CPO, he led the organisation to the Labour Party/CPO leadership summit held in Abuja.

He said he also served as a member of the 2023 presidential campaign team and was a Labour Party chieftain under the leadership of Julius Abure.

However, Ngogbehei said his current role was within the Labour Party, where he heads the Directorate of Mobilisation and Integration expected to focus on the Labour Party’s mobilisation architecture.

He said it they also plan to integrate efforts and broader political strategies as the 2027 elections approach.

He said DMI was expected to provide updates on the directorate’s activities, examine the state of the nation and discuss strategies for the forthcoming electoral cycle.
