Soludo: Tinubu Rebuilding South-East, Healing Civil War Wounds

Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, has commended President Bola Tinubu for what he described as deliberate efforts to rebuild the South-East through critical infrastructure projects, saying the administration is helping to heal the lingering scars of the Nigerian Civil War.

In a statement shared on his official X account on Wednesday, Soludo disclosed that President Tinubu had approved the design and procurement of two major federal highways linking Anambra State with Kogi, Imo and Abia states.

According to the governor, the projects will significantly improve transportation across the South-East, South-South and North-Central regions while stimulating economic activities.

“Certainly, President Tinubu has a date with history, and even more so with the South-East,” Soludo said.

“He continues to demonstrate his avowed commitment to orchestrating the reconstruction of the South-East, thereby finally healing the wounds of the Civil War.

“There are several unprecedented, foundational infrastructural rebirths going on in the South-East at the moment.”

Soludo revealed that he met with President Tinubu on July 1 to present the region’s infrastructure needs. He added that the Minister of Works, David Umahi, contacted him the following day to request details of the proposed road projects.

The governor said he submitted two priority projects on July 3. They include the dualisation of the 108-kilometre Otuocha–Anam–Abaji Road linking Anambra and Kogi states, and the 150-kilometre Oba–Nnewi–Uga–Ihube (Okigwe Junction) Road connecting Anambra, Imo and Abia states to the Enugu–Port Harcourt Expressway.

According to Soludo, the Minister of Works informed him on July 15 that President Tinubu had approved both projects for design and procurement.

He described the highways as transformative infrastructure that would strengthen economic integration and ease movement across the affected regions.

“These two roads constitute critical game-changers for the South-East, South-South and North-Central,” he said.

“The man who tamed the Atlantic Ocean in Lagos is certainly redefining politics, and the South-East won’t be the same again.

“For me personally, this is why politics makes sense to me: working collaboratively and building alliances to achieve concrete results that improve the lives of the people.”

The governor expressed appreciation to President Tinubu for approving the projects, saying history would remember him favourably for the intervention in the region.
