The Katsina State Police Command has presented cheques totalling ₦28.01 million to the families of 25 officers who died in the line of duty.

Commissioner of Police Ali Umar Fage handed over the cheques on Tuesday at the Conference Hall of the Command Headquarters in Katsina.

The payments form part of a welfare package initiated by Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Rilwan Disu for the families of officers who paid the supreme price while serving the nation.

Addressing the beneficiaries, Fage expressed condolences and prayed for the peaceful repose of the deceased officers.

He described them as gallant men who served with dedication and stressed that their sacrifices would not be forgotten.

He urged the families to use the funds judiciously to meet their immediate needs and secure their future, while also commending the IGP for prioritising the welfare of both serving personnel and the dependents of fallen officers.

According to the command, the cheques amounted to ₦28,012,584.70 for the 25 beneficiary families.

Speaking on behalf of the recipients, Alkasim Salisu thanked the IGP and the Katsina Commissioner of Police for the gesture.

“We are grateful to the Inspector-General of Police and the Commissioner of Police for this kind gesture. We assure you that the money will be used judiciously,” he said.
