Police Arrest Final Suspect in 2023 Anambra Kidnapping-Murder Case

The Anambra State Police Command has arrested 25-year-old Olisa Oyelu, also known as “Obele,” the last identified member of a notorious armed robbery and kidnapping gang linked to a 2023 incident that left a victim dead.

Operatives from the State Criminal Investigation Department took Oyelu into custody in the early hours of Wednesday, September 23, following sustained intelligence gathering and detailed investigations, according to a statement by Police Public Relations Officer SP Tochukwu Ikenga.

Police say Oyelu was an active member of the gang allegedly led by a suspect known as “Pincode.”

His arrest marks a significant breakthrough, as “Pincode” and four other suspects linked to the case are already in custody at a correctional centre pending court proceedings.

After investigations conclude, Oyelu will also be transferred to the correctional centre. The command described the development as evidence of its commitment to bringing all those involved in the crime to justice.

Commissioner of Police Nnanna Oji Ama praised the officers for their perseverance and intelligence-led approach.

He assured residents that the command will continue pursuing criminal elements within and outside Anambra State, and urged the public to provide timely, credible information, stressing that security is a shared responsibility.
